Forest Park Families,

The elected candidates for our Student Council positions have been announced, and we are very proud of all our students who chose to participate in the process. I’d like to share a brief story that emerged from this year’s student council activity.

I recently received a Positive Office Referral from one of our fourth-grade teachers. The note read:

Zoie ran for student council. She worked really hard and gave a great speech.

Although she was not elected, she congratulated the two elected students and told them how happy she was for them.” When the teacher shared how proud she was, the student replied that she can’t wait to try again next year.

We are incredibly proud of this student. Our message to all students was that it takes courage to run for election. Everyone who stepped forward and participated should be recognized and celebrated.

Our annual Calendar Raffle continues, and next week will be the final opportunity to purchase tickets. If we reach our fundraising goal of $12,000—or a total of 1,200 tickets sold—we will celebrate with a school-wide “Twin Day.” In addition, we have a Family 4-Pack of URI Men’s Basketball tickets that will be awarded as a grand prize to one student seller. The winner will be drawn from all students who sold tickets—the more tickets sold, the better the chance to win!

Finally, please continue to send in non-perishable items for our school-wide Food Drive, which ends on Wednesday, November 28th.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Joseph S. Rotz, Principal
